About Us

GreenTown Los Altos is a grassroots initiative of residents and businesses in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills making our community more sustainable. The organization was founded in October 2007 through an association with the national Cool Cities movement and operates as a fiscal project of Acterra, a registered 501(c) 3. Our primary seed funders include the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Morgan Family Foundation and the Grove Foundation. We participate in collaborative Bay Area efforts to influence regional sustainability.

Educate and mobilize citizens to implement sustainable practices broadly throughout our local community.

Vision:
Los Altos and Los Altos Hills embrace sustainability, fostering vital neighborhoods, schools, infrastructure and a healthy local economy. By measurably reducing our waste, energy and water use, our area will become one of the most desirable places to live and work.
