- August 9 and September 14 workshops to help residents and businesses transition to new waste services
Changes are coming to the City of Los Altos' waste, recycling and composting services. Are you prepared?Be the first on your block to learn about the new services. Be the one "in the know" about what your neighbors can put in their new recycling and compost bins.
On Monday, August 9, the Environmental Commission will host a public outreach session to help educate our community on the changes. New services are set to begin in September. Here are some things you can expect as a resident:- A single rolling cart for all residential recyclables. No more messy bins.
- Compost, including food waste, collected weekly.
- Smaller waste can options. If you throw away less, you pay less.
A number of changes are in store for businesses as well.
The session will be held at the Hillview Multipurpose Room, starting at 7pm. Mission Trail Waste Systems, the new service provider, will lead a presentation on residential services from 7-8 pm and, another, on commercial services, from 8-9 pm. In addition to learning about service changes, you'll have a chance to see the new bins, and learn about rates, the transition plan and more! Hope to see you on August 9!GreenTown is hosting a follow-on event on September 14 to help answer any questions that arise after the new services begin. Contact waste@greentownlosaltos.org for more info or look for details in the September newsletter.
