Sustainable Land Use
Our Sustainable Land Use Work Group is working to educate and engage the community about smart growth land use choices for downtown Los Altos and the Community Center as a means to create a more vibrant, economically vital and sustainable community. Smart growth involves higher density, diversity of uses, design for people, alternative transportation and historic renovation and ultimately can result in a village that serves the community better and reduces car trips.
On July 20, 2009 GreenTown Los Altos released a white paper "The New Science of Parking: Parking management Strategies for Los Altos." This paper reviews the history of parking policy and current best practices in this field which may be applied in Los Altos to save the city money and increase vitality. (Download PDF)
