Also on August 23, Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action is hosting a bike safety workshop for students 10 to 14 years of age. It will be full of fun facts to help you maintain your bike and get to and from school safely! The event will be held at 9:45 a.m. at the Los Altos Community Center. Make sure to join!

On the its-a-tough-job-but-someone's-got-to-do-it-front, GreenTown volunteers did a taste test for our upcoming fundraiser. Chef Evans of Catered Too created these delectables. Join us Oct. 4th, 5:30-9:00 pm at the @losaltoshistorymuseum gardens so you can experience this deliciousness yourself!

Our first riders are off! Family Bike Day, part of Los Altos Bike Month, began with some quick bike tune-ups by @shoupatom and an 11am guided bike ride with leader @ajambiel and sweeper (and 2022 Los Altan of the Year) @garyhedden. Several families came out to enjoy the comfortable weather, take a ride on easy streets and secret-cut throughs in Los Altos, and stop for a nice treat from the lovely @sweetshoplosaltos!

Next ride starts at 1:30pm! Come on down to the community center.

Free Guided Bike Rides during the Family Bike Day, May 25, 9 am – 3 pm. On these fun family rides, you'll learn how to navigate their neighborhood streets, including safe street crossing and some secret cut-through. Leaders will review the rules of the road and some bike skills. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

So. Much. Fun. That sums up GreenTown Los Altos’ fundraising event this past weekend. It was focused on getting together to eat delicious food, discuss ideas, catch up with each other and keep in mind our collective goal of trying to stem climate change through personal actions. We will be posting photos for a few days to let you relive the event if you attended and if you didn’t make it, we hope you live vacariously (and get inspired to attend next year!). Congrats to @lahsgreenteam for an excellent Students for Green High Schools conference on Saturday. This was the 10th annual! Keynote speaker, Dilafruz Williams, powerfully spoke of the importance of connecting with nature to ground us and recharge our work to support the environment! Roya Samani, an Environmental Programs Specialist with the City of Sunnyvale, and former LAHS green team leader who helped to found the conference (!!!), spoke about her day to day work to advance beneficial electrification. We love seeing former green team members who we worked with back in the day leading the charge in community sustainability! Kudos to @lahsgreenteam conference planners and all the attendees from around the Bay area!
