Los Altos City Council approve greenhouse gas emission reduction.

For the last 5 years GreenTown Los Altos has been working to get Los Altos to sign the Mayors Climate Action Plan.   On Tuesday, April 23rd the current city council  approved reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 15% from the 2005 level, and asked staff to provide a cost benefit analysis of several other items.  During the meeting, several members of GreenTown Los Altos spoke to the council about the importance of accepting the climate action plan.  With only 7 years to reach the 2020 goal, GreenTown Los Altos will be working with the city and the community to raise the awareness of changing behavior to reach these goals.

During the council meeting each of the council members shared how green they were, from installing solar panels to being energy efficient.  With the single use plastic bag ban, the upcoming Expanded PolyStrene (styrofoam) ban, electric charging stations, and now accepting the climate action plan, the city is making significant progress to raise the awareness of these important environmental issues.

Now is an excellent time to become a member and continue our work in making Los Altos and Los Altos Hills an environmentally sustainable community.
